What’s the difference between a leveling kit and a lift kit?

Most lift kits are leveling kits, but most leveling kits are not lift kits. Most trucks come from the factory with a nose-low or tail-high stance. A leveling kit raises the front ride height slightly to be even with the factory rear which will allow the fitment of larger tires. Most leveling kits are 1-3" depending on the truck and work within the limitations of the factory suspension travel. For Lift Kits, both the front and rear of the vehicle are being modified to raise the stance. These are typically more comprehensive kits to correct suspension, steering and driveline geometry as well as being offered in taller lift heights. Typically lift kits account for the factory rake and level out the truck in the process (ie. 6” front lift with a 4” rear).
