What’s the difference in a body lift and a suspension lift?

A body lift raises the body up off of the frame/chassis with no effect on the frame-suspension-axles. The main benefit is for clearance for tires to not contact the body, but it should be noted that there are no performance benefits to a body lift other than the ability to fit larger tires. Body lifts are inexpensive, relatively speaking, but typically require a fair amount of work to install. They kits can be found in various heights, but in most states the legal limit is 3”. Kits consist of body pucks, longer body mounting bolts, bumper relocation brackets, radiator relocation brackets, and steering extensions to maintain compatibility. In most cases a body lift can be used in combination with a suspension lift as the two are independent from each other.

A suspension lift is designed to raise the body and frame up off the axles using taller suspension components (springs, shocks, control arms and/or bracketry) to allow larger tires, but also improve vehicle capability and performance.
